First caught at the observatory on 12th October 2004, this Blackcap (Sylvia atricapilla)carried a ring from the Czech Republic making it the first Blackcap from the Republic to be caught in the UK. The bird was re-captured again on the 16th October and had increased it's body weight by almost 3 grams and showed considerable fat deposition. The rapid increase in body weight is in preparation for migration!
