Leave a Legacy

Have you thought of leaving a gift to the NOA in your will ?

Any gift, however small, will help us continue our important work in monitoring bird population and movement; and help us sustain our precious reserves in North Norfolk.

Adding suitable wording to your will is straightforward, and we have set out below some notes to explain the types of legacy and given examples of appropriate wording.

We strongly recommend that you consult a legal advisor to ensure that your will is drafted to accurately reflect your wishes.

There are two types of legacy, the gift of a fixed sum ( a Pecuniary Gift ), and the gift of a share of the estate ( a Residuary Gift ).

Suitable wording for each is set out below

A fixed sum (a pecuniary gift):

'I give to The Norfolk Ornithologists Association, Charity registered in England and Wales no 267670, of Broadwater Road, Holme Next The Sea, Hunstanton, Norfolk, PE36 6LQ, (hereinafter called the NOA) the sum of £_______ and I direct that (i) the proceeds may be used for the general purposes of the NOA and (ii) a receipt signed by a person for the time being authorised by the Council of the NOA shall be a good and sufficient discharge to my executors.'

A gift of a share of the estate (a residuary gift):

’I give to The The Norfolk Ornithologists Association, Charity registered in England and Wales no 267670, of Broadwater Road, Holme Next The Sea, Hunstanton, Norfolk, PE36 6LQ, (hereinafter called the NOA) the residue (or % share of the residue) of my estate absolutely and I direct that (i) the proceeds may be used for the general purposes of the NOA and (ii) a receipt signed by a person for the time being authorised by the Council of the NOA shall be a good and sufficient discharge to my executors.'
