Volunteering

The NOA requires regular volunteer help in the following fields:

  1. contribution to daily bird records; if you have been birding on or near one of our reserves, don’t forget to call in or email to the Observatory to report your sightings
  2. participation in our on-going seabird-watching project; this involves recording birds flying past the dunes for a timed period
  3. entry of data onto spreadsheets, or into the BTO Birdtrack system (own PC plus internet connection would be helpful, but is not essential)
  4. helping with ringing activities (as a ringer, trainee ringer or “scribe”)
  5. surveys of insects, moths or mammals
  6. involvement in the occasional work party for habitat maintenance on one of our reserves; if you would be interested in helping with this, please let us know, so that we can put you on our mailing list to be notified of any such tasks

We also have occasional requirements for practical and administrative assistance of various types, and even the occasional vacancy for a Trustee. If you have skills which you feel could be useful to the NOA, please make yourself and your skills known to us.
